    (Class 10th)

Hey guys, welcome to our new blog.

Here I am back with our new topic Nutrition  of 1st chapter of biology.

If you haven't checked the 1st blog yet go and  check the 1st part of this chapter. πŸ‘‡πŸ»πŸ‘‡πŸ»πŸ‘‡πŸ»πŸ‘‡πŸ»

      -:Nutrition:-

It is the basic need of any living organism. It is the process of intake of food, digestion, absorption and assimilation makes the complete nutrition process.

   In other words:

The process of intake of food and the utilisation of food for the basic process of our body.

Modes of Nutrition:

1. Autotrophic

2. Heterotrophic

1. Autotrophic nutrition:

Autotrophs- Organism which make their own food with the help of light energy or chemical energy.

This can be classified into two groups:

– Photoautotrophic - Organism which mainly perform photosynthesis are known as Photoautotrophs.

Example- green plants.

– Chemoautotrophic- Organism which mainly perform chemosynthesis.

Example- Nitrosomonas, Nitrobacter, Nitrococcus.

* Chemosynthesis- Process by which certain microbes create energy by mediating chemical reactions.                               Organisms which utilise chemical substances and form that chemical substance, synthesis their energy, i.e., called as chemosynthetic organisms.

2. Heterotrophic nutrition :

The mode of nutrition in which the organisms depends on autotrophs or any other organisms for their food.

It can be divided into 2 categories:

1. Plants

2. Animals

------------------------------------------------------------

1. Plants

▪ Parasitic - These organisms which basically live on the host body and make them harm.

There are two types of parasites:

(i) Total Parasite : Those parasitic plants which totally depends on another organisms for their food.

Example: Cascuta

(ii) Partial Parasite : Those parasitic plants which partially depends on another organisms for their food.

Example: Sandal wood tree.

▪ Symbiotic - Such plants which will associate with another plant or organisms with another plant or organism for their food and nutrition.                When two organisms associate together for the benefit of nutrition and nourishment, then it is known as Symbiotic association.

Example: Lichens.

▪ Insectivorous : A type of plant which feed on insects to fulfill their nitrogen deficiency and nutrition.

Example: Pitcher plant.

▪ Saprophytic: Those plant which are actually live over dead and decaying or remains of plants or animal origin.

                           OR

Plants which live over the dead and decay or decomposed matter and obtain their nourishment or organic substance from them.

Example : Mushroom, fungi.

2.Animals:

▪Holozoic- The mode of nutrition in which organisms take whole solid food material from the surrounding.

Examples : Human, Ameoba.

▪ Parasitic -

There are 2 types of parasites in animals:-

Ecto- Organisms which live outside our body and harm us.

Examples: lice, mosquito... etc.

Endo - Organisms which live inside our body and harm us.

Examples: Bacteria, viruses, pathogens, etc....

▪ Symbiotic - It is a close relationship between two animals in which atleast one get benefitted.

Examples: warthogs and mongooses, crocodile and plovers.
