As we know The great indian festival Navratri was started from 17th October 2020 (Saturday) which will be celebrated for 9 days and will end on 25th October 2020 (Sunday) . Navratri was one of the famous and important festival for all Hindu Devotees . this festival is known as festival of joy and Devotion. During navratri many people do fast for full 9 days in which they will not going to eat any grain of wheat. You will be shocked to know that many people during navratri do a fast in which they will not eat any food . they just take a clove each day and follow the same till 9 days. this shows the real shradhha or reverence of the Hindu devotees on their god. In this festival they worship Maa Shakti and all her 9 forms.
the 9 forms of mata shakti are Shailputri , brahmacharini, Chandraghanta , Kushmanda ,Skandmata , Katyayni , Kalratri , Mahagouri , Siddhatri . with this 9 forms maa durga is known as Navdurga . this festival is considered one of the most important festival in Sanatan dharma. Navratri word is a collection of 2 words Nav means Nine and Ratri means Nights. many of us have a question that -

Once upon a time there was a demon known as Mahishasur. he eats humans and consider himself as superior than the god . To break his Ego and to save the people from him Goddess Durga fought with him the battle continued for 15 days During this battle maa durga took all her 9 forms and finally she killed him. after that she was known as "Mahishasur Dharni" and Navdurga. from that time this festival was started in order to thank her for saving the whole earth from the demon.
the festival is also famous for its main attraction that is Dandiya or Garba. in which many couples come together and play danidiya through two sticks in their hands in front of maa durga.

Garba and daniya show the drama of fight between maa durga and a demon (Rakshas) known as Mahishasur. the sticks of dandiya represent sword of Goddess Durga . the dandiya is also known as "The Sword Dance".
